A View from Mentor - From Dual Screens to a Single Massive Monitor: Exploring iiyama's new 45" Curved Display with Richard Hill

Richard Hill, our very own UK Sales Manager chimes in on the latest iiyama display - A MASSIVE 45” Curved desktop monitor called the XCB4594DQSN-B1 and the reasons why he thinks this could be a game changer for people who Work From Home (WFH) and currently use one or two monitors with their work laptop.

My current Dual Monitor setup

“When working from home, it’s essential to have the right set-up with your desktop to maintain high productivity while working at your desk. I’ve been WFH for a couple of years now, and I use two 27-inch Iiyama monitors, the XUB2792QSN-B5 and XUB2792QSU-B6, which are mounted on a Humanscale M82CBW dual monitor arm.

I have connected my keyboard, mouse, and internet to the back of the XUB2792QSN-B5, which has a DisplayPort ‘out port’ that daisy chains to the XUB2792QSU-B6 so my desktop can span over two monitors. With a USB-C input, I simply connect my laptop with a single USB-C cable. The power delivery feature on USB-C enabled displays from iiyama  (ranging from 65W to 90W depending on model) means it also charges my laptop at the same time. With just one cable, it means I can quickly connect and disconnect without a mess of cables to reattach my laptop when I need to take it with me!"

Why should you be upgrading to the new XCB4594DQSN-B1 monitor?

"This absolutely massive monitor is a curved 45”. For a single panel, it has a resolution of 5120x1440 which is equivalent size of my two 27-inch monitors.

The monitor has a panel that produces 450 cd/m² of brightness and runs at 165Hz and is the equivalent of Dual QHD panels. With insane connectivity and naturally USB-C hub, it has two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort, three USB 3.2 ports, a LAN port (RJ45) so you can have a wired network connection, and a USB-C dock with power delivery of up to 90W to charge even the most power hungry laptops.

The internal KVM switch is great for home users who use their monitor for both business and personal use. It allows you to connect two PCs and switch between them seamlessly between my gaming machine and my work laptop."

What do I think of the XCB4594DQSN-B1?

"Wow, this piece of kit is simply amazing! It's sleek, practical, and user-friendly, making it the perfect addition to any WFH space. Replacing two monitors so no longer have a bezel splitting your work space and having a single field of view due to the 1500R radius reducing your eye strain as go.

You can set it up with the included height adjustable stand, or pair it with a black Humanscale monitor arm to take your workspace to the next level. I would recommend the heavy duty Humanscale M8.1 to make sure it can handle the weight as well as making it effortless easy to move to the perfect viewing height whilst looking really stylish in black aluminium.

Whatever your work environment, get ready to turn heads and make everyone around you super jealous (including me)! So, if you want more details or an opportunity to experience it for yourself, give me a call ASAP!"
